Dr. Sid Freedman listens carefully and with empathy to the problems individuals bring to therapy. All information will be strictly confidential. Dr. Freedman works with patients individually to establish therapeutic rapport quickly and to identify the history of their problems, as well as to provide solutions that are unique to their concerns. Providing psychological therapy for patients of all ages in the London area, Dr. Freedman’s goal is to help his patients help themselves using the following types of therapy (depending upon your preferences):


Clinical Hypnosis

Clinical hypnosis is one of the fastest and most effective ways to help patients cope with many problems they are experiencing, including anxiety, phobias, depression, chronic pain, headaches, insomnia, smoking cessation and weight loss. Dr. Freedman records the hypnosis sessions and provides the recordings to patients for practice between sessions. Dr. Freedman also teaches self-hypnosis so patients have the coping skills available anywhere, anytime they need to overcome their problems.


Cognitive Behaviour Therapy (CBT)

Cognitive Behaviour Therapy involves identifying any automatic negative thoughts which may have resulted in negative emotions, such as depression or anxiety. CBT helps patients break down their overwhelming problems into smaller, more manageable components. Focusing on positive thoughts and emotions, instead of focusing on the causes of your distress in the past, enables you to modify your thoughts, emotions, and behaviour.


Individuals, Couples & Family Therapy

Dr. Freedman has many years of experience in working with children, adolescents and adults. He has also worked with couples and families to identify their concerns and to discover solutions to their problems. He asks them to complete homework assignments between sessions and to evaluate changes. While he makes suggestions, family members are encouraged to come up with changes that are acceptable to their own situation.


The biggest impediment to harmony and happiness in couples is a breakdown in communication. Consequently, Dr. Freedman observes a couple’s communication styles and encourages changes in communication to improve clarity as well as to avoid miscommunication. He also provides couples with homework assignments, including reading about problems in communication, as well as spending more quality time together. Once they have improved their communication skills, couples are able to deal with whatever other barriers or problems existed prior to coming to therapy.
